New Job! Framestore London!

After almost exactly one year here it is! News with new jobs on the way!
I'm very very excited to take one step forward on my career and to join this awesome studio!

I started Monday the 3rd of August and I'm already loving it! I love to be in London, meeting new people, new leads, new amazing animators and professionals and working with a totally different project.
The change between Feature Animation and VFX works is kinda abrupt, but I'm sure it's going to be alright, even though the anxiety in the beginning sure is big!

This studio have worked in amazing projects in the past, here are a few of them from recently:

I don't think I can say much about the movie I'm working on yet! BUT here is a trailer for the movie I was working on Illumination Macguff as a compensation.

Here for another year of learning and hopefully a lot of cool shots! =D

Emotions of Pixar

Behind every emotion you feel watching an animated movie there's an animator behind, doing brilliant work, giving you the illusion that one character is actually alive and feeling!

A good reminder of how this job is actually the best job in the world!

Cheesy and inspirational!

Sharing Animation - Music Video - Carmen (Sylvain Chomet)

Sylvain Chomet is a brilliant artist by himself. I mean, Triplettes de Belleville and L'Illusionnist have a very unique value and style.

And although I don't know the Belgian singer Stromae, I did relate a lot with what he is singing in this music.

So both things together I thought they deserved a place in my very humble sharing animation list, I still have plenty of other animations to share, old and new, classic and experimental, but today I thought it would be a good idea to just make this one skip ahead and not be forgotten.

Being so new, I don't think this needs much of an introduction.

Inside Pixar

Kinda Oldish but... Just for inspiration...

Pixar Storytelling Rules Videos by Bloop Animation

Although all the attention surrounding the "Pixar Storytelling Rules" because, well, it has Pixar written on it, these rules as many others have commented, are not exactly Pixar rules, but just good storytelling.
But nevertheless I believe it is a good list to have in mind and really understand what it means when it comes to creating our own stories.

Bloop Animation has a great channel on youtube, and a cool website, and even free books! Besides it's always really fun to find other people who are totally passionate about animation and film-making as we are!

They started a while ago and finished recently a collection of videos talking about the "Pixar Storytelling Rules" and what I found awesome are the examples they gave in the Pixar movies themselves to explain each rule.
They are short and easy to watch, so enjoy!

Sharing Animation - Blinkity Blank (Norman McLaren, 1955)

Back to the sharing and back to the classics!

The National Film Board of Canada is, until today, one place that experimental animation come to life. You have really high chances of running into one of their funded films if you go to an international animation festival like in Annecy. Great filmmakers, artists, who take animation one step forward, can grow there.

He showed us how animation is all about manipulating images, frame by frame, into a film that can be played in the correct speed and create... well, magic! I say this, because his work includes drawing animation, stop motion, pixilation, or even modifying live footage.

I shall not get too long over McLaren, mostly because it's not the first time I share one of his movies.

Blinkity Blank is a short movie that explores the Persistence of Vision with drawings engraved directly onto black film, and sounds as a combination of improvisational Jazz by composer Maurice Blackburn and his technique of also scratching directly onto film on the sound optical column.

A true classic from a true pioneer!
